The “Wisdom” of Urkel Obama and the Mosque at Ground Zero | August 18, 2010

The Artful Dodger President Urkel Obama weighed in on the side of those who are eager to build a mosque 2 blocks from the hole in the ground where the World Trade Center stood until 09/11/2001, almost 9 years ago.  On Friday, 08/13/2010, Urkel Obama stated, peering down his nose, “[a]s a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country.   And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan…”; this bold statement was made to a room full of Muslims.

The next day, Saturday, 08/14/2010, however, he attempted to dance around his previous statement, saying “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there.”

Nothing like doing the hokey-pokey around a politically-charged topic:  “you put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you put your right foot in, you put your right foot out and you shake it all about…”

This particular issue has nothing to do with denying Muslims the right to practice their religion; afterall, there are approximately 100 mosques already built in the New York area.  No sane person questions the ability of the RIGHT of Muslims to build mosques or practice their religion, but just because something is a right doesn’t make it the right thing to do.

While liberal, progressive Democrats such as Mayor Bloomberg and Obama stump for the mosque to be built, they dismiss its critics as merely intolerant rubes, scolding the friends and relatives of those killed in 09/11 as intolerant of Muslims to practice their religion.

The natural first question that comes to mind is:  when did liberal Democrats start caring so much about protecting the right of individuals to practice their religion?  Try saying a prayer in school or try putting up a navitity scene in the local public square, then you’ll find out how liberal Democrats are when it comes to protecting your ability to practice your religion freely!

On the other hand, with some pretty titillating viewpoints about the US’s culpability for the 09/11 attacks, Feisal Abdul Rauf is the imam behind the building of the Cordova Initiative Mosque (by the way, “Cordova” translates into Spanish as “Radical Muslims Invaded Spain in 711, Slaughtered Thousands of Christians then Converted their Oldest Catholic Church into a Mosque” — hmmm, one wonders if there’s any symbolism in the choice of the name?).  Speaking of symbolism and for those conspiracy-minded readers, the address of the proposed Cordova Initiative Mosque is 45-47 Park Place — the street numbers add up to 9-11.

This Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said in a 2004 interview “the US and the West must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end,” and he refuses to acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization.  This is what our media touts as a “moderate Muslim.” To add insult to injury, Imam Rauf is now on a jaunt around the Arab world representing the Obama Administration and paid for by the American taxpayers!

Yet, the “liberal” dhimmis (translation:  “useful idiots” in Arabic) welcome the mosque with open embrace in the name of “tolerance.”  One hopes they start strapping on their  kneepads and learn which direction to  point their pray rugs to Mecca (no doubt  these dhimmis will have to learn first what a direction is since, if they went to American public schools, something as prosaic as directions were never taught).

Meanwhile, Nazi Pelosi called for an investigation today NOT of the funding of the mosque but of the critics of the mosque!

Welcome to “Hope and Change.”

“Proposal for a mosque at site of 9/11 tragedy is nothing short of a ‘fitna’ or making mischief”
Muslim Canadian Congress urges New York’s Ground-Zero Mosque Imam to abandon project

TORONTO – The Muslim Canadian Congress (MCC) is urging the Cordoba House Initiative to abandon its proposed Ground-Zero Mosque in New York in the face of outrage expressed by large segments of the American population calling the proposal an act of ‘fitna’ or mischief.

In a letter to Imam Faisal Rauf that will be delivered on Tuesday, August 10 by MCC’s board member Raheel Raza, the MCC says, “Many Muslims suspect that the idea behind the Ground Zero mosque is meant to be a deliberate provocation, to thumb our noses at the ‘infidel.’ We believe the proposal has been made in bad faith and, in Islamic parlance, is creating  ‘fitna,’ meaning ‘mischief-making,’ an act clearly forbidden in the Qur’an.”

“The Qur’an commands us Muslims to, ‘Be considerate when you debate with the People of the Book’ — i.e., Jews and Christians [chapter 29, verse 46]. Building an exclusive place of worship for Muslims at the place where Muslims killed thousands of New Yorkers, is not being considerate or sensitive, it is undoubtedly an act of “fitna,” the letter added.

The MCC challenges Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf about his claim that building the mosque will increase tolerance for Muslims when the evidence is the exact opposite. “Do you not understand that building a mosque at Ground Zero is equivalent to permitting a Serbian Orthodox Church near the killing fields of Srebrenica where 6,000 Muslim men and boys were slaughtered?” the letter asked.

The MCC said it is opposed to the Ground-Zero mosque because many questions have gone unanswered. Questions about where the funding is coming from? If this mosque is being funded by Saudi sources, then it is an even bigger slap in the face of Americans as nine of the jihadis in the Twin Tower calamity were Saudis.

If Imam Rauf is serious about building bridges, then he could have dedicated space in this so-called community centre to a Church and Synagogue, but he did not. He could have proposed a memorial to the 9/11 dead with a denouncement of the doctrine of armed jihad, but he chose not to.

The MCC letter said, “Even if the intention of the mosque organizers was noble, the negative reaction by the American people has ensured that if built, the mosque will remain a permanent sore point and a lightning rod for anti-Muslim feelings. For this reason alone, the project must be abandoned.

“When we try to understand the reasoning behind building a mosque at the epicentre of the worst attack on the USA, we wonder why its proponents would not build a monument to those who died in the attack? New York currently boasts at least 30 mosques so it’s not as if there is pressing need to find space for worshippers,” the letter added.

For more information, please call Raheel Raza at 416-505-6052. Ms. Raza will be in New York on Tuesday, August 10 to deliver the MCC letter and to raise her objection to the mosque at a meeting of the organizers and the September 11th Families’ Association/Tribute WTC
